Sony intro’d some
3D Bravia HDTVs a while back, and while that didn’t really whet our appetite an LCD with built-in storage is always palatable. To be released by Sony Japan, the BX30H is available in in up to 32-inches and packs 500GB of storage — not particularly earth-shattering, but it should prove useful for DVR-ing episodes of
The Marriage Ref. [Did we say that? We meant
WWE: Raw.] Available in both colors (black
and white), this model is, sadly, only available in Japan. For those of us stuck in the states, the BX300 is available in 22- and 32-inch sizes (and only in black). All of the above feature a 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, CCFL backlighting, 720p HD resolution, 5.1 channel audio output and more. Yankees can expect to pay $279 for the 22-inch or $419 for the 32-inch, while prices in Japan TBA.

Even if your handset of choice
won’t be eligible for upgrade to Windows Phone 7, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy the look and feel of Microsoft’s latest and greatest with a well-executed skin, right? Looks like Jaxbot’s
Windows Phone 7 Series Theme is available in passable beta form — great news for any and all of you jealous WinMo 6.5 users who might be reading this — and it can be had right now (as in
now!) at the XDA Developers forum. Want to see it do its thing? Peep the video after the break.

We know you’ve been champing at the bit for some Odroid news… wait, you forgot already? You know, the Android-powered handheld game system that the manufacturer, Hardkernel, bills “the developer-focused portable game device”? To be honest, we’d hope that the company would focus on game players, but that’s really beside the point: the thing finally has a release date: “early March.” And for those of you lucky enough to get in on the ground floor, they’ve gone and upgraded the thing to Android 2.1. Peep it in action after the break.

We’ve seen blow-hard electronic music makers in the past (one particular
didgeridoo hack comes to mind) but still, when one makes us take note we feel like we just have to pass it along. Onyx Ashanti is an American living in Berlin and a one-man band to boot. His instrument of choice is a Yamaha MIDI wind controller for triggering audio and the TouchOSC app for iPod touch for controlling PureData audio processing. And the music he makes from the two is pretty, pretty wild… see for yourself after the break.

It may not be illegal to tuck your kids into bed via iChat while taking advantage of United’s
in-flight WiFi, but that didn’t stop a flight attendant from ending John Battelle’s (admittedly precious) use of the service during a flight two days ago. It seems that the airline has a policy that prohibits “two-way devices” from communicating with the ground — you know, in case some terrorists board the plane and try some shenanigans. Apparently a laptop with WiFi isn’t considered a “two-way device,” until you throw videoconferencing apps like Skype into the mix. Somehow, it seems, the company missed Apple iChat when blocking ports, thus enabling the whole affair. Let this be a lesson to those of you with children: save the chats for the hotel room or the airport lobby, eh?

So, we brought you along for
the big reveal and some
playtesting, and even presented you with
this handy guide just in case you had any more questions. You still haven’t got enough of Sony’s new motion controller? You’re going to want to hop on over to Joystiq for an enjoyable interview with Sony Worldwide Studios VP Scott Rohde where he gets down to brass tacks and answers questions involving the ins and outs of Move game distro, whether the preponderance of “shovelware” mini-game collections will help or hurt the platform, and the fate of the DualShock controller. It’s a wild ride, indeed. So why are you still here?

We can’t say we didn’t warn you. Looks like the kids at Comcast have to answer some questions over at the Justice Department — and the FCC — before they get their hands on NBC. Both agencies have pledged to “examine the transaction closely,” says AP, being ever-vigilant as they are to protect consumers and competition in this free market society of ours. The review could last upwards of a year, but if that means that 2011 could see the debut of NBC-Universal’s “Comcastic!” theme parks, it will all have been worth it.

We already got a look at
Microsoft’s little XNA show-and-tell as relates to Windows Phone 7 Series, but our colleague Andrew Yoon over at Joystiq had a chance for longer sit-down with Xbox Live general manager Ron Pessner and XNA Game Studio manager Michael Klucher at
GDC today, and he’s been kind enough to share the interview with us. The main topic of conversation was the company’s plans regarding Xbox LIve and, specifically, how it would be integrating it into Windows Phone 7 Series. And believe us, there was plenty to discuss — including the sweet science of porting games from Zune HD to 7 Series phones (”it’s 90, 95 percent code reuse… in an hour or couple of hours, we’re taking games that were written for Zune HD and putting them on the phone”), the importance of maintaining a consistent gameplay experience amongst different hardware, and the reasoning behind limiting devices to asynchronous multiplayer. What are you waiting for? Hit the source link to embark on this miraculous journey of discovery.
