DSLR Built-In Pop-Up Flash Diffuser - Homemade

homemadediffuser6Nothing fancy of course. I needed something to diffuse the light from my camera’s built-in pop up flash, that’s why I made this.  I did try to look online and found at least 4 products, the one that I like is the Gary Fong Puffer Pop Up Flash Diffuser, I was close to buying it from amazon, but after learning that people who bought it has mixed reaction towards the reliability of the item, I decided back off. Then I thought, why not try to make my own pop-up flash diffuser, and so I did, here it is.

I used a white medium size dominos cup, if you can find a smaller cup like the  chuck e. cheeses cup use to hold game tokens, it’s the perfect size, but you need a plain white cup. I used the dominos cup even though it’s kinda big, because it’s the only one i can find that has more plain space that is white, I’m still looking for a plain white plastic cup around the house, probably smaller.

I’ve also tried to cut a portion of a milk container, you can see it on image1 and image2, and it has the same result with the dominos cup.

If you use the cup method, just make sure it’s tight enough to hold the diffuser so it won’t fall of, with mine I can run holding  my camera with the diffuser.

Here are two sample images to compare the results:

Here are more images of the built-in pop-up flash diffuser.
