Sausage stylus for the iPhone now on sale in the US
So you thought awesome gear never made the transition from Korea to the USA, huh? Not so in the case of the infamous sausage stylus we spotted a month ago. That cold weather peripheral — allowing its ingenious users to operate a capacitive touchscreen with gloves on — has made the big leap over to the Americas and can be yours for the low (seriously low) price of $0.99. Naturally, it’s a sausage, so it will be compatible with not just iPhones but anything receptive to capacitive touch, although you should be cognizant of the “not for consumption” label — compatibility with human stomachs is unlikely.

Official HTC capacitive stylus for HD2 now shipping
As hard as the world has worked to get away from styli and toward fingers, HTC — in all its quiet brilliance — decided that it’d still make a poker available for its mighty, capacitive HD2; after all, how else are you going to pinch and zoom with those adorable mittens on? After some delays, at least one British retailer now has those official HTC-branded units in stock — you won’t have any place inside the phone to stow it, of course, but we’re sure you’ll figure something out. Heck, even if you do end up losing it, they’ll be more than happy to charge you 17 quid (about $28) for another, so rest easy and keep those digits toasty.

Super Mario vest goes above and beyond to be dorky
Sweater vests aren’t the coolest article of clothing around. In fact, unless you’re Justin Timberlake or something, they’re one step above bow ties on the scale of dorky articles of clothing.
HTC HD2 capacitive stylus just around the bend?
Ah, ha! Remember that curious patent application that popped up from HTC back in mid-August? You know, the one dealing specifically with a “capacitive stylus?” If UK e-tailer Clove is to be believed, one of those very devices will soon be shipping for the wide-faced HD2, though little else about the product is known. In fact, we’re told that “price, specification and availability” are still being confirmed, although a preliminary asking price of £15 ($25) is posted. So, anyone already getting hot and bothered just waiting for this, or what?

HTC files patent for capacitive stylus with resistive accuracy
Though capacitive displays are generally regarded as the easier-to-use technology for mobile touchscreens, their finger-friendliness comes at a dear price: accuracy. Because capacitive tech is incompatible with traditional styli, you’re stuck fudging things with your fat digits or settling for a high-tech finger alternative that arguably creates as many problems as it solves. Don’t worry, though — HTC feels your pain, and it seems like they’re looking to keep the classic stylus in the game as the company’s lineup makes the inevitable transition to capacitive over the coming years. A new patent application describes a stylus with some sort of magnetically charged tip — at first, we thought that sounded suspiciously like what Wacom does for its tablets, but unlike Wacom’s tech, this would function with a traditional, seemingly unmodified capacitive display. It’s funny how we’ve all written off styli in the past couple years and now we’ve got HTC over here doing everything it can to save ‘em — but hey, if this means we’re going to get the best of both worlds, we’re all for it.

Olympus Mju Tough-6010 seeks clumsy photographer to grow old with
The latest addition to the Olympus Mju (Stylus in the US) family of ruggedized cameras is the Tough-6010, which claims to be waterproof up to (or is it down to) 3 m (10 ft), freezeproof to -10°C (14°F), and capable of withstanding drops from 1.5 m (5 ft). It retains the TAP Control Mode from its elder sibling, which lets users access various functions by tapping the camera’s top and sides. If you’re going to be snorkeling on Greenland’s north coast, there is perhaps no other camera for you — but if you care about actual camera specs, this is a 12-megapixel shooter, equipped with 3.6x optical zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, dual image stabilization, ISO sensitivity up to 1600, and storage handled by your choice of xd-Picture Card or MicroSD. Should you be leaving for Greenland soon, fret not, as the UK will be getting the 6010 this month for £299, with Europe and the US probably not too far behind.
