I bought this so I can have a decent Zoom lens in an affordable price. After taking a few shots with it, I was impressed, it’s a great telephoto, and great for macro shots. Of course it’s not a Canon L lens, but for the price and quality of the images you can take with this lens, nothing can’t beat.
There are different versions of these lens, so be carefull and take a close look at the name and description when you buy it, the one that I have here is the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon, and the official name of this according to SigmaPhoto.Com is 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro, there is also a Non APO version which is called the 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG MACRO.
Lens Technology
APO (APO Lens)
In order to attain the highest quality images, the APO lens has been made using special low-dispersion (SLD) glass and is designed to minimize color aberration.
DG (DG Lens)
These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.
